  • Michael Jacob Sanders, 19, of Concord, was arrested at 5:46 p.m. on July 28, on a violation of protective order; penalty charge. An officer was dispatched to the Cumberland Farms on Fisherville Road for a past tense protective order violation. Sanders, according to the report, allegedly entered the store at the same time that a woman with a protective order against him was working. Sanders reportedly left the store and headed to Rex Drive. The officer caught up with Sanders and another male walking on Rex Drive and knew of him, since the officer made the initial arrest against him in April. Sanders allegedly admitted to entering the store so that his brother could use the bathroom but didn’t know that the woman would be working at that Cumberland Farms location. While one officer stayed with Sanders, the reporting officer went back and spoke with the woman. She reported that after being dropped of at work, she received a call from her mother alleging that Sanders was “hanging around the outside of the store.” She looked out and reportedly saw Sanders. He reportedly saw her and headed into the store while the woman went into a back room. “She was fearful of Sanders,” the report alleged. Another family member who worked at the store reported that the two men came into the store and headed to the area where the young woman was. She asked them if they needed help, and they allegedly asked to use the bathroom. The other woman told them there was no public bathroom and they reportedly left. The officer asked the store employee how long the woman worked there and she said about a month and it was the only location where she worked. An officer had dispatch confirm the protective order, issued on April 24, and then arrested Sanders. Sanders was held without bail.

The woman at the home alleged that Carter had threatened to kill her and chased her up the stairs with pepper spray. She later locked herself in a room while Carter allegedly attempted to knock the door down. He allegedly mentioned a gun but she wasn’t aware of him owning one, according to the report. The woman said she didn’t know where Carter was, so police set up a perimeter around the house and later observed him in the kitchen. Officers reportedly called out to him and he eventually came to the front door and was taken into custody. Carter reportedly told police that the two were going through a separation and she had taken money out to buy her own home. He reportedly stated that when he went to bed later in the evening, he walked into a fan and woke up his wife. She later left the room, he alleged, and the next thing he knew, she was yelling “don’t kill me!” and the police showed up. Carter was later arrested. Officers later reported that the phone lines had been disconnected sometime during the incident. Carter allegedly admitted to unplugging the phone after an argument with his wife over a television she took out of the bedroom. Since the cable company was disconnecting the cable later in the day, he just unplugged the phone, thinking he was only disconnecting the one upstairs, the report alleged. During the booking process, Carter’s wife called police to let them know that she found a firearm in a toolbox. Carter reportedly told police it was a nonfunctioning model gun. He also agreed to allow officers to search his vehicle.
