City Officials Answer Questions About Main Street Project
Council holds last public hearing Monday night.
The Concord City Council will meet at 7 p.m. on Monday, July 14, to debate four motions about the potential $10.2 million Complete Streets Main Street project. The hearings will take place in the council chamber on Green Street.
The council will hold public hearings about tax impact fees, the Sears Block TIF district changes, and a $2.5 million extension of the TIF district to partially pay for the project. It will then vote on the approval of the TIF financing and changes to the financing at another meeting on July 30.
This will be the public's last chance to offer comment about the project.
While the public may think the project is a done deal, councilors privately have mixed feelings about some aspects of the project although many have mentioned that they believe that something needs to be done to improve the downtown.
After meetings at the Holiday Inn last week, city officials offered another overview of the project and answered questions about all aspects of the project. Here is the latest memo and collection of points about the project.
