Garcia on Boehner: 'I'm Not a Particularly Huge Fan'

2nd Congressional District candidate says she's not a detractor of the House Speaker either.

State Rep. Marilinda Garcia, R-Salem, officially launched her Congressional campaign during the lunch recess of the Jan. 22, House session with family, friends, and a strong contingent of legislators.

During a short question and answer period after her official remarks, she was asked by Josh Rogers of NHPR what she thought of House Speaker John Boehner. Garcia, who is considered a rising star within the Republican Party nationally, said she wasn’t a huge fan but wasn’t a detractor either.

“I think he’s in a challenging situation,” she said, adding, “there are some things I would like to see him do differently.”

Garcia said she thought Boehner would be a supporter of some of her positions but added that Congress could “be more effective” especially at “curbing some of the waste and misguided policies Washington is pumping out these days.”

Garcia is facing off against former state Sen. Gary Lambert, R-Nashua, for the GOP nomination to take on incumbent U.S. Rep. Ann McLane Kuster, D-NH.
