'Fame,' Books, Mexico, and Fun in Concord This Week
Here are your Monday Essentials for Concord; everything you need to know about the week ahead.

- A mixed weather week. The National Weather Service is calling for nice weather bracketing rain in the middle of the week. Expect sunny skies on Monday with highs in the mid-40s. Overnight lows drop down to the high teens. Similar weather is expected on Tuesday and Wednesday, with slightly higher temperatures. But by Thursday, showers are likely during the day and evening. By Friday, the sun returns and the weekend looks good too.
- Quiet. Gibson’s Book Club reads “Quiet: the Power of Introverts in a World that Can't Stop Talking,” by Susan Cain at 7 p.m. on Monday.
- Refugees of Shangri-La. Red River Theatres presents the New Hampshire premiere of the documentary film at 7 p.m. on Monday. Tickets are $12.
- It's election time! Concord votes for mayor, city council, and school board seats. The polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Click here for details on the election. Patch will have election updates starting at 7 p.m.
- Godspell. The Capitol Center for the Arts presents “Godspell,” at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
- Mexico. Bill Behrenbruch presents a new adventure film, “Mexico: The Bad, The Great, and The Ugly,” at the Concord City Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday as part of the Walker Lecture Series. Admission is free.
- Craft beers, pub fare. There will be free samples at the Concord Food Co-op between 5 and 7 p.m. on Thursday to celebrate the SNOB Film Festival at the Red River Theatres that also starts Thursday.
- One Stop Shop. The Beaver Meadow Elementary School hosts its annual One Stop Shop Night at 5 p.m. on Thursday. Meet all kinds of vendors, enjoy food, and have fun. Admission is $2.
- Learn about Bishop Brady. Concord’s Catholic high school will hold an open house at 7 p.m. on Thursday. Learn about the school and all its activities.
- Meet Cathy Dougherty. The author of “In Woolen Bikinis” will be at Gibson’s Bookstore at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
- Fame. The Bishop Brady High School Players present “Fame,” at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
