House Speaker Terie Norelli, D-Portsmouth, said in an interview that leaders of both parties have discussed how to work across the aisle to get things done.

One idea: what if there was no figurative partisan aisle to reach across? What if the citizen legislators were seated without regard to political affiliation?

It's been done before (back in the early 90s) and it has been discussed with Republican leaders, who return to the Minority in the House for the 2013-2014 session, according to Norelli, speaking to reporters after being elected Speaker of the 400-member New Hampshire House of Representatives. The Republican caucus, she says, is split on the idea.
