Sanborn Named to Leadership Team

Republicans to "re-double their focus" on jobs, economy.

House Majority Leader D.J. Bettencourt announced on Sept. 13 that he was “strengthening” his leadership team as the Legislature heads toward the opening of the 2012 session, specifically focused on job creation.

"The people of New Hampshire were exceptionally clear during the last election; people need jobs, employers need breathing room and government must be smaller, more efficient and one that actually works for the people,” he said in a press release.

One new member of the team will be state Rep. Laurie Sanborn, R-Henniker, who was named Assistant Deputy Majority Leader.

“In 2011, Representative Sanborn proved her leadership skills through her creation of the job-and-business focused House Business Coalition,” Bettencourt said. “Through her efforts, more than 100 representatives united to become the largest and most powerful voice for small business and job creation issues in the Legislature.”

Sanborn said she was “honored” to join the team and looked forward to bringing her focus on jobs and the economy to the leadership table.

“We are proud of our achievements in the N.H. House Business Coalition, and appreciate the recognition of our hard work and results,” she said. “This appointment is a re-affirmation of the House's commitment to job creation and economic expansion. As I have been stating for some time, my priorities have been insuring everyone in our state has a decent job, promoting economic expansion, and ensuring that our state live within it's means.”

Both Sanborn and her husband, state Sen. Andy Sanborn, co-own The Draft on South Main Street in Concord, and were recently selected as two of the top 20 emerging leaders of the Republican Party at the 2011 National GOPAC conference in Washington, D.C. She also sits on the House Ways and Means Committee.

Rep. John Graham, R-Bedford, will join Bettencourt's team as the Assistant Deputy Majority Whip and will assist the Majority Whip, Peter Silva, R-Nashua and his Deputy Majority Whip Betsy Patten, R-Moultonborough.
