Woman Allegedly Leaves Target with Another Woman’s Tech Gear

Concord Police looking for help solving theft incident.

Investigators inside the Concord Police Department are looking for information about a woman who allegedly took items that belonged to another woman last month.

According to a Concord Regional Crimeline alert, at around 4 p.m. on Feb. 11, after purchasing items at Best Buy, a woman entered Target with her young children to do more shopping. At the request of her children, the woman switched carts and accidentally left the bag of items she purchased at Best Buy in the other cart.

The bag contained a wi-fi hot spot device and a cellphone charger with a total value of around $250.

Later, while shopping, the woman realized the Best Buy bag wasn’t in the cart and began looking for it. When she couldn’t find it, she notified store employees about the missing bag. The store employees examined video, saw an alleged crime, and contacted police.

"The video revealed that another female, described as being white with short brown hair, in her late 40s, wearing a white New England Patriots sweatshirt entered the store at approximately 4:05 p.m.,” according to Lt. Timothy O’Malley, the commander of the criminal investigations division of the Concord Police Department. “The suspect female was in the store for approximately 10 minutes before she approached the victim’s unattended shopping cart and removed the blue Best Buy shopping bag. The female then left the store and got in a tan colored two-door vehicle and left the parking lot.”
