Racist Graffiti Reported in the South End

Police canvas area, asking for help solving the case.

Racist graffiti was reported scrawled onto the side of a number of South End homes on Sept. 18, and the are asking for the public’s help finding the perpetrators involved in the incidents.

According to the police, during the early morning hours of Sept. 18, someone wrote rambling anti-African slurs in black ink on the side of a number of homes on Downing and Perley streets.

Police report that “multiple families” discovered the messages that were “racist in nature” and appear to have been written to deliberately target those residents based on the race and/or culture of the residents.

Acting-Chief John Duval quickly condemned the graffiti on Monday.

“Crimes against individuals motivated by race, ethnicity, or culture are particularly disturbing,” he said. “Detectives are actively pursuing leads and we encourage anyone with information to call the police.

Police were seen out canvassing South End neighborhoods, asking for the public’s help solving the crime.

Anyone with information about the graffiti can call the Concord Regional Crimeline at 603-226-3100. Tips, which will remain anonymous, can also be texted to police at TIPS234 or CRIMES (274637). The Crimeline awards cash to anyone whose information leads to the arrest and indictment of criminals. More information is available online at concordregionalcrimeline.com.
