Penacook Woman Faces Assault Charges

Concord Police allege that Tammy Fawcett assaulted her kids; she'll be arraigned on Monday.

A woman is facing assault charges after allegedly assaulting her children last last month.

Tammy J. Fawcett, 46, of Penacook, was arrested at 7:54 a.m. on Feb. 2, on two simple assault (personal weapons) charges.

According to a Concord Police arrest report, officers responded to a disturbance in progress on Whittaker Circle, with a man heard yelling before the call was disconnected. Dispatch reportedly tried to call back but the phone was reportedly disconnected.

When they arrived, the officers reportedly heard yelling from outside the household. The officers spoke to Fawcett who allegedly told the officers that they weren’t needed at the home. She appeared to have a bloody upper lip, the officer noted. An adult man and a teenage girl were also at the home.

The officer alleged that Fawcett “immediately began to escalate the situation” by yelling at them and her husband. The officers later learned that Fawcett had been at the Szechuan Garden the evening before and she appeared to be “under the influence of alcohol.”

One of the officers asked Fawcett’s husband to step outside to discuss the incident. He alleged that after going out with a friend, Fawcett came home and began yelling at him. The yelling woke up their kids as well. He denied any physical contact between the two. He was not aware how she received the bloody lip.

Inside the home, the officer reported that it was “chaotic,” with Fawcett allegedly acting angry and aggressive. While attempting to speak to the children, an officer noted that one had a scratch above her eye and she stated that she had fallen the previous day. The scratch appeared to be fresh, according to the officer. Another officer noted that another child was “bleeding from his temple” with a cut the size of a dime and had fresh scratches on his neck.

While trying to speak to Fawcett, she stated she was unaware that she had a bloody lip and denied assaulting anyone in the house but later “seemed agitated” during questioning about the incident.

After some discussion, the officers arrested Fawcett.

During the transportation to headquarters, the officer alleged that Fawcett threatened to “have my job” and reportedly stated that two officers in Boscawen lost their jobs under similar circumstances. She alleged that the officer only arrested her so he could touch her and repeatedly called the officer a pervert, according to the report.

“Tammy was yelling through the duration of transport,” the officer alleged.

The family, according to another officer, declined to complete statements. Fawcett was later released on $4,000 personal recognizance bail and has a court date on March 4.

The previous arrest, according to the Concord Monitor's online archives, was from March 26, 2004, in Boscawen, for domestic violence simple assault and obstructing a report of a crime.
