Concord Police allege that Jeremy Grandmaison stole checks and cashed them.

A local man is facing numerous charges after allegedly admitting to stealing checks and cashing them for money.

Jeremy Grandmaison, 30, of Concord, was arrested at 7:15 p.m. on Aug. 22, on one count of felony burglary, seven counts of forgery, all felonies, and seven counts of receiving stolen property. The charges stem from alleged incidents at the TD Bank on Sheep Davis Road and North Main Street on May 6, May 7, and May 8, and Bank of America on May 13, and May 14. The burglary occurred on Thorndike Street on May 1. The total amount of the forged checks was $6,715.

According to court and arrest documents, a detective began an investigation into a forgery claim by a Thorndike Street resident on May 31, who alleged that a neighbor, Grandmaison, cashed three checks for $340. The checks, according to the detective, were marked “yard work” but the victim denied hiring him for yard work.

On June 4, the detective spoke to Grandmaison’s wife about the case and she allegedly confirmed that she knew about one of the checks from a relative. She also alleged that a lock had recently been put on the victim’s apartment because she believed he allegedly entered the apartment.

The next day, the detective met with Grandmaison and spoke with him about the case and he allegedly admitted to entering the other apartment and taking three checks from a checkbook he found in a room of the apartment.

“Jeremy went on to state that he cashed the stolen checks,” the detective alleged, fraudulently signing them, using the victim’s name.

The detective received photographs from Bank of America of the checks on Aug. 9. The bank informed the detective that two of the transactions were inside the bank; another was in the drive-thru.

After reviewing the photographs, the detective alleged it was Grandmaison was pictured cashing the checks on May 13, and May 14.

Later, other charges were filed against Grandmaison and on Aug. 19, a warrant was requested for his arrest.

While on patrol at South Main and Storrs streets, an officer recognized Grandmaison in a car and new there were warrants out for his arrest. He was stopped at South Main and Water streets and arrested. He was held on $100,000 cash bail and arraigned on Aug. 23.
