Homeless Woman Busted Again

Alyssa Norton has wracked up new charges from the Concord Police in the last two months.

A homeless woman who was charged with after allegedly assisting Concord men in faces more charges, according to arrest reports and court documents.

, a homeless woman now located in Concord, was arrested in June and July on various charges, including unlawful possession of alcohol, resisting arrest or detention, default or breach of bail conditions, and a bench warrant.

According to an arrest report, the majority of the new charges stem from an alleged incident at 4:15 p.m. on July 23, at the intersection of North Main and Court streets. The bench warrant was out of for a resisting arrest charge from June. Police seized her backpack, filled with miscellaneous items, and held it for safe keeping, according to an arrest report. She refused bail and had a court date on July 24.

The June 11, charge, stemmed from allege incident at the on North Main Street.

According to an affidavit, two officers were called to the hotel for a report of an unresponsive person “with possible alcohol issues.”

While officers headed to the hotel, teams were also on their way assess the situation.

Officers arrived and headed to the women’s bathroom where an unresponsive girl was reportedly in a stall. According to reports, fire and rescue crews had to pry the stall door open in order to medically evaluate the woman. Fire personnel were able to identify the woman as from a backpack that was placed on a counter.

A short time later, she reportedly regained consciousness.

“Norton then became responsive and argumentative with the fire department,” according to the officer’s report. “Norton then stated she drank some rum today and she passed out in the bathroom because she has not slept in five days.”

Another officer asked if there was someone she could call to help her and she said no and that she was currently homeless.

The officers began to clear the scene so that the bathroom could be used by patrons of the hotel, according to the affidavit. An officer reportedly grabbed Norton’s backpack from the counter and allegedly lunged towards the officer, shouting “No,” while grabbing the backpack. Norton allegedly attempted to rip the backpack from the officer and during the commotion, a glass pipe allegedly fell out of the backpack.

“We then told Norton several times to stop resisting but she did not stop,” the officer alleged in his report. “We then had to wrestle her hands to her back side and then we were able to handcuff her.”

The reporting officer alleged that once cuffed, “Norton refused to walk and dropped to the floor claiming a panic attack.” Fire and rescue teams stated that she was not having an attack and medically cleared her from the scene. Eventually, Norton walked with the officers back to the cruiser where she was transported to the police station and charged with resisting arrest.
