Deerfield Man Busted with Cocaine

Concord Police arrest Michael Gruette outside South End deli.

A local man is facing a felony drug charge after police received a tip from another law enforcement agency.

Michael David Gruette, 35, of Deerfield, was arrested at 12:05 p.m. on Oct. 2, and charged with felony possession of controlled drugs, default or breach of bail conditions, and a bench warrant.

According to an arrest report and court documents, a Concord police sergeant received a tip from Bow Police that Gruette, who was wanted on a theft by deception charge warrant, might be meeting someone later in the day at Cimo’s South End Deli on South Street.

Another officer was sent to meet up with Gruette at the store and arrest him, which he did, informing him of the warrant.

At headquarters, during an inventory of his possessions, officers allegedly found a paper key card slip from a Hilton Hotel that contained two plastic bags of substances, one white and one tan, believed to be cocaine.

“I asked Gruette what the substance was and he stated that they were both cocaine,” the officer alleged.

Gruette was out on bail from Concord District Court pre-trial services on Sept. 4, so the default charge was added. He requested bail but couldn’t come up with the $500 so he was held and arraigned on Oct. 3.

A field test later revealed the substances to be cocaine, according to court documents.
