Shaheen Signs Up to Run for Re-election

Granite State's senior Senator, surrounded by family, signs up.

Surrounded by friends, family members, campaign supporters, a slew of firefighters and union activists, U.S. Jeanne Shaheen, D-NH, signed up to run for re-election at the Secretary of State’s Office today.

The state’s senior Senator said on June 9 that she hoped, if re-elected, to continue the work she had been doing on behalf of Granite State families both as governor and in the Senate, working to provide jobs, access to affordable healthcare, and a clean environment to the state.

“I’ve been working very hard,” she said, “and I think people in New Hampshire want a Senator that is going to work for them, every day of the week, 24-7.”

Shaheen and some of her supporters then headed to an event at Caffenio on North Main Street to discuss the state of small business in New Hampshire, chanting “Jeanne Shaheen, Jeanne Shaheen,” from the Statehouse to the sidewalk to North Main Street.

Along the way, a few counter-protesters held signs stating that she voted with President Barack Obama 99 percent of the time and chanting “Tax Machine, Tax Machine," in unison.

“There’s so few of them,” one Shaheen supported stated.

“They never give up,” added another, while giggling.
