Shaheen, Hassan Look Strong Heading into 2014
Scott Brown is seen as the only Republican who might be able to win a Senate race.
A new poll from Public Policy Polling shows that U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen and Gov. Maggie Hassan are both looking strong heading into the 2014 election.
Shaheen has a 49 percent approval rating, and leads all potential GOP challengers by double digits. She leads Charlie Bass 51-41, Bob Smith 51-35, Jim Rubens 50-33, Karen Testerman 50-31 and Dan Innis 52-30.
The poll also shows, however, that if former U.S. Sen. Scott Brown (R-MA) decides to run for Senate in New Hampshire, where he owns a summer home, he could pose a stiff challenge to Shaheen. The PPP poll has Shaheen leading Brown by just a 4 percent margin, 48-44.
Hassan looks even stronger heading into her first bid for reelection. She has a 51 percent approval rating, one percent higher than it was in April. She leads potential GOP challenger Brad Cook 49-34, Chuck Morse 49-33 and George Lambert and Andy Sanborn 49-32.
