Why do the City Councilors avoid some emails?

Is it because they don't want to take a public stand so you know their position on a topic? If I were a City Councilor I would think people would like to have responses to their emails, even if one disagrees with them. A healthy debate is good. And afterall, it is their job to make sure city assets and departments are kept in check for us.

At a recent robbery scene, I found it interesting that a police cruiser was left unattended, unlocked, and equipment, and likely the weaponry inside was at risk. That would be a sure way to get a Bearcat vote I guess, if city firearms were on the street in criminal's hands.

When you request information from the police department directly you get denials and coverups even if you have a judge's finding and an AG finding that criminal conduct has taken place by an officer, yet they get a pass from the AG because it is qualified as a mistake.

We can't afford to have the people who claim to put their lives on the line everyday for us demanding protection leaving equipment or firearms at risk and making mistakes of criminal degree. I would think if a citizen were to leave firearms accesible to anyone in a parking lot they would likely face criminal charges of some sort, as the department has no inability to charge for the smallest of infractions.

That said, if a constituent reports a matter to all of the City Councilors, you would think at least one of them would have the common courtesy, if not the fortitude, to tackle the email matter and respond with either what they did, or what they are going to do.

Or maybe, it is just easier to not rock the boat and be yes puppets. We need people who are going to stand for principles and have the willingness to possibly make unpopular decisions. As Martin Luther King said,“And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular; but one must take it because it is right.” Times are changing dangerously politically, someone needs to take that "right" position.
