Your Guide: Audi Pitch-In Days Start Next Week

The Concord City Auditorium’s “pitch-in” days start on Monday, Aug. 19, and run through Aug. 21. 

Volunteers will be meeting to get the theatre up and running again from 9 a.m. to noon and 6 to 9 p.m. each of the three days. 

“We do windows,” said The Friends of the Concord City Auditorium. “Windows and orchestra seats and dressing rooms and stage floors. We sew curtains, polish chandeliers, and send event calendars to thousands of area households.” 

This is the 23rd year volunteers, fans of plays, and supporters of the Audi have donated their time to make the theatre all spic and span.

The 109th seasons of programming starts with the annual gala show on Sept. 15, which highlights upcoming attractions.

The pitch-in crew chief is Joye Olson of Penacook, and her family has led the cleanup effort for more than two decades. Olson will coordinate efforts with Harry Dangora, the city’s Superintendent of Public Properties, and staffers for the department.

More than 100 volunteers are expected to lend a hand but more are always welcomed, and last year, all of that work was highlighted by then-Gov. John Lynch and Volunteer NH.

“In the theatre spirit, The Friends guarantee dramatic working conditions, an interesting cast of characters, roles for stars and for the chorus, no heavy lifting, air conditioning, absolutely no pay, good eats, and a chance to earn a ‘Sweat Equity’ card,” according to those in the know.
