Matt Bonner and the San Antonio Spurs are in the NBA finals, playing against the Miami Heat. The Spurs beat the Heat last night, 92 to 88. Bauman to Throw Out First Pitch at Fenway Park Tonight

Boston Marathon Bombing victim says it was something he was looking forward to.

Boston Marathon Bombing terrorist attack survivor Jeff Bauman is getting to throw out the first pitch at Fenway Park tonight, when the Red Sox take on the Philadelphia Phillies. Bauman, speaking on the Dennis & Callahan sports radio show on WEEI out of Boston, said he expected it to be fun and was excited about it, since he was a baseball player in school. When asked if he was looking forward to the opportunity, Bauman said, "Yeah ... it's going to be awesome." Bauman told the show’s hosts that he hadn’t yet practiced throwing from his wheelchair but would be doing so later today. Matt Bonner finished Game 1 with 12 points. How big a role will the 6'10 player have as the Spurs battle the Grizzlies on Saturday night?

When the San Antonio Spurs battle the Memphis Grizzlies in Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals on May 25, will Matt Bonner continue his hot shooting coming off the bench late in the game? The Red Rocket finished Game 1 with 12 points – four three-pointers. And role was such that the reserve forward was deemed an unsung hero. The Spurs v. Grizzlies game is scheduled for 9 p.m. Saturday. The Spurs lead the series 2-0. Bonner is in his ninth NBA season, his seventh with the Spurs.

McAuliffe Elementary Fun Run

Despite the clouds, kids get their exercise in at Memorial Field.

Students at the McAuliffe Elementary School held their annual fun run at Memorial Field on May 22.  Each team - first the girls, then the boys - made their way around the track four times - the equivalent of a mile, and then enjoyed popsicles afterwards. One of the students reportedly broke the school record of less than six minutes, according to one of the teachers.  Here are some shots from the race.

Bauman Surprises Bruins Fans, Waves 'Boston Strong' Banner at Game

This YouTube video of Saturday's Bruins' ceremony sums up the spirit of healing.

With the Foo Fighters high-energy "All My Life" blasting over the PA system, Jeff Bauman Jr., 27, who lost both legs in the Boston Marathon bombing, appeared on the ice at the TD Garden Saturday night, holding a "Boston Strong" banner in a surprise appearance before the Boston Bruins' hockey game. According to this Boston Globe story, Bauman, serving as honorary fan banner captain, was introduced with text projected on the ice that read, “By now you know his inspirational story. His perseverance in the face of great adversity represents all that is Boston Strong.”  When the lights went up, Bauman was extending a Bruins banner in his right hand and pumping his left fist in the air, and the crowd went wild.
