Hardy Macia, who spent one of his last breaths requesting that Gov. Maggie Hassan approve a medicinal marijuana proposal for New Hampshire with a homegrown provision, passed away earlier today, according to friends and family. Macia, who had Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, was stricken with the disease last summer while he was running for the 2nd Congressional District and assisting former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson's run for president. Macia was a husband and step-father of two. He worked in Canterbury as an app developer and worked as a civilian for Naval Ship Systems in Pennsylvania, in the 1980s and 1990s. He was president of Catamount Software. The Chinese national was studying statistics at Boston University. She was killed in Monday's bombing at the Boston Marathon.
A Chinese newspaper has identified the third Boston Marathon bombing victim as Lu Lingzu, a Boston University graduate student, according to the Associated Press. Lu, from Shenyang, China, was studying statistics. A second Chinese national and BU student, Zhou Danling, was also injured in the blasts. She is listed in stable condition in a Boston hospital, according to Chinese officials. Lu's death has led to an outpouring from friends, family and concerned neighbors in China. Lu's Sina Weibo page already has 20,000 comments from shocked and upset friends (Sina Weibo is a Chinese social media service that combines Twitter- and Facebook-like features). The Rev. Frank Kelly died Jan. 12, 2013, at the Veterans Home in Tilton. He was a retired Lt. Col. in the USAF. His active duty tours were in Japan and the Philippines during the Korean Conflict. Kelly was a United Methodist minister and was pastor emeritus of the Bow Mills United Methodist Church. He also served parishes in Colebrook, Moultonboro, Contoocook, Newport, Lancaster, Monroe, Pittsburg and Raymond. He was Wing Chaplain for the New Hampshire Civil Air Patrol and a member of the Concord squadron of the CAP. After retirement to Concord in 1976, he was employed by Concord Hospital and the Regional Visiting Nurses Association. Coordinator for Concord Substance Abuse Coalition to be remembered.
Friends and family of Jennie Stewart-Boldin, mother, wife, and coordinator of the Concord Substance Abuse Coalition, will gather at South Congregational Church at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10, to celebrate her life and pay respects to our children and her parents. Jennie passed away on Nov. 5, at her home, after a long bout with cancer. The church is located at 27 Pleasant St. in Concord. There will be a brief ceremony at 11 a.m. for Jennie. Refreshments will be served afterwards at the church. Friends are invited to write letters to her children to let them know what they know about her mother. Letters could be written to offer hope and inspiration to them as the move on into the future without their mother. In lieu of flowers donations…

Robert Clayton Rainie, M.D., 92, of Concord, passed away Monday, Oct. 8, at Concord’s Hospice House after a 10 year battle with Alzheimers Disease. He was born May 10, 1920, in Concord, the second child of Ruth (Garland) and Herbert W. Rainie. He was predeceased by his brother, Donald G. Rainie in 1976. Bob graduated from Concord schools and went on to receive a bachelor’s degree (1941) and medical degrees from Dartmouth College (1942) and Boston University (1943). He and his wife Dora (Dode) Merino were married in 1944 and celebrated 68 years of marriage on Oct. 7. During his medical training, they lived in Lewiston, Maine, Boston, Mass., and Hanover, before moving to Concord in 1950, where they raised their three children, Scott, Robin …

Jeffrey Allen Bokum, 39, of Dearborn Road in Pembroke, died on May 30, 2012, with his wife at his side at the Bridgton Hospital in Maine after a short battle with cancer. Born in Concord on April 22, 1973, Jeffrey was the son of Gary Bokum of Allenstown and Diane (Allaire) Hartford of Epsom. He was a lifelong resident of the Allenstown-Pembroke area and had graduated from Pembroke Academy in 1992. Jeffrey was a career Firefighter and EMT with the Portsmouth Fire Department. He had also worked for a short time with the Raymond Fire Department and volunteered with the fire department in his hometown of Pembroke. Jeff was also the owner and operator of Profile Orthotics Center in Concord, which specialized in custom fitted ski boots. Above …
