Maggie is just trying to protect her job in the corner office. Her inability to present a BALANCEDRead More BUDGET for her first term without including the $60 MILLION DOLLAR Licensing Fee for the UNAPPROVED CASINO just shows she hasn't a CLUE as to what she is doing. Her Expansion of Medicaid to cover some 80,000 people in NH will ULTIMATELY lead us to a SALES AND INCOME TAX in the VERY NEAR FUTURE. This is a given once the Fed's stop paying 100% for this program (Unfunded Mandates). We the Tax Paying Citizens will be making up the difference. Where else will the money come from since as everyone MUST know Maggie will NEVER kick 80,000 people off of the Program once the Fed's portion of the funding changes. The State is HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS in the hole, especially since the State Retirement System isn't fully funded. The Interstate 93 Project isn't fully funded either. The New Hampshire Advantage will disappear then what will we do???

The infrastructure of the City is in Shambles. The Durgin Block Parking Garage has been neglectedRead More since is was constructed back in the 80's. It now needs over $3 Million in repairs, The same is true with the Garage by the YMCA. Where has all the Monies been going from the parking fees and meter's all these years? These Funds should have been DEDICATED for the upkeep of the Garages and not used for the General Fund. The Streets in Concord have NEVER BEEN IN WORSE SHAPE than they are right now. The last time my street was touched was back in the 80's when the Sewer Reconstruction Project was done. That's OVER 30 YEARS AGO. The Tax Paying residents of our street went to a City Council meeting over 5 years ago and we were told that the Street would be redone in 2017 and now according to the City's Website that date has been pushed out until 2022. Why did the City of Concord just spent $1.7 MILLION of Taxpayer funded Money to purchase The Dept. of Employment Security Building from the State of NH. It has been said that we will also spend another $400,000 to tear down the Building and then we will sell the land to a developer for a NET LOSS of WELL OVER A MILLION DOLLARS !!! How does this make FISCAL SENSE?? I am a life long resident of Concord and I am TIRED of the current City Council not listening to what the Citizens are saying. Stop spending our Money for YOUR PET PROJECTS !!! Get it through your head's, We will NEVER BE PORTSMOUTH !!

Don't get me wrong, but the main street project should be done, but not at the expense of the taxRead More payers or the feds. The mayor, manager and the city council have been out of control for a long time. every one of them should have been replaced by now, they waste money at every turn and put it off onto the tax payers! With that all said, just a few thoughts about the project. 1. Close main street to all vehicle traffic this includes bicycles, Divert routes 9 and 202 either to N.State from Centre St to Pleasant St or To Storrs St from the Tea Garden Restaurant to Pleasant St Ext. I said bicycles to because I have not seen one rider following the RULES OF THE ROAD as set forth in State Laws regarding Bicycles. By doing this you eliminate all problems for pedestrians. 2. Heated streets? If they want heated streets, Concord Steam already serves the downtown area with steam. The lines are already the under the street. 3. I don't see any need to hire four individuals to do maintenance and upkeep of said area as we already have a crew who does it now! The city services are already bloated to beyond belief. Drive around Concord and observe the crews we have working around town, you'll see what I mean. I think that the City Counsel, Mayor, City Manager should pay for all these projects out of their on pockets!
Marilyn Pelletier June 28, 2014 at 10:53 am
This is still the MOST ridiculous waste of money in a time when the economy is still in the tank.Read More Why can't the City council inure this out??? It will be a traffic nightmare.
