Monday Essentials: Your Purchases Can Help Others

- A nice weather week. It’s fall, and it’s looking good. The National Weather Service is predicting a nice weather week. Expect sunny skies today with highs in the high 60s. On Tuesday, the day will feature similar weather, just a bit warmer. By Wednesday, temperatures could read the high 70s. Similar weather is expected on Thursday and Friday. On the weekend though, the rain will return.
- Help Making Strides this week. There are three fundraisers for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer this week: On Monday, from 11 a.m. on, eat at Uno’s and a portion of the check will go to a Making Strides team. Then, on Wednesday, head over to Margaritas at 4 p.m. and the restaurant will donate a portion of your check to another team. From 5:30 to 10 p.m. on Thursday, mention Cure for The Cups at Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt, and 20 percent of your order will go to the organization. Think pink!
- ConvenientMD open house Tuesday. ConvenientMD, a new urgent care facility on Loudon road, is holding its grand opening open house from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
- Got a kid going to college? Joan Ryan will be holding a talk at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Gibson's Bookstore, to help parents guide themselves through the college and scholarship process to help their kids get into college.
- NH Food Bank benefit. Grow Local – Eat Local, a benefit for the New Hampshire Food Bank, will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday in Manchester at the Food Bank. Enjoy creative cuisine by local chefs while helping out the nonprofit.
- Meet Howard Mansfield. The author will talk about his new book, “Dwelling in Possibility: Searching for the Soule of Shelter,” at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Gibson’s Bookstore.
- Volcanoes! Filmmaker Gray Warriner will be presenting some of America’s hot spots at the Concord City Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Like all Walker Lecture Series events, admission is free.
- Juried reception. The 26th annual members’ juried exhibition is on display at the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen from Oct. 4, to Dec. 11. The opening reception will be held at 5 p.m. on Oct. 4.
- Domestic violence fundraiser. The Woman’s Club of Concord is hosting a swap fundraiser. Bring an item; trade it for another one. All proceeds will go to Domestic Violence Awareness.
