Monday Essentials: Great Weather, Volunteer, Food, Wine, and Music

Everything you need to know about Concord this week.

  • A pretty good weather week. The National Weather Service predicts nice weather for all this week, with the exception of Thursday. Expect sun on Monday with highs in the mid-80s. It will be a bit warmer on Tuesday and Wednesday, with highs reaching the high 80s. Thursday, temps will be in the mid-80s again during the day, but by evening, a possibility of showers. On Friday, expect sunny skies again with highs in the low 80s. Over the weekend, the temps drop down into the mid-70s, but sun remains.
  • Audi Pitch-In Days. On Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, volunteers will be cleaning up the Concord City Auditorium for the new season of performances. All the details are on this post. Volunteers are still needed so stop by to help out.
  • Penacook Farmers’ Market. From 4 to 6:30 p.m. on Monday, stop by the Penacook Farmers’ Market at the historic Rolfe House for fresh food raised at area farms. Another farmers’ market will take place at the Steeplegate Mall on Wednesday from 3 to 7 p.m.
  • Strutters. The Capitol Region Strutters will hold its first meeting at 7 p.m. at Cheer’s on Depot Street.
  • The Spectras. At Presidential Oaks at 6:30 p.m., enjoy the smooth sounds of the 1960s with The Spetras. The concert is free.
  • Open house. The Concord Dance Academy will hold an open house at 4 p.m. on Wednesday at the studio’s Commercial Street location.
  • Registration. Dance Inspirations will be holding its fall registration starting at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, for children 2 and up.
  • Climate change talk. Iowa State Sen. Rob Hogg, the author of “America’s Climate Century,” will give a talk about climate change at the McLane Center at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
  • Meet Betsy Woodman. A local author, Woodman will be at Gibson’s Bookstore on South Main Street at 7 p.m. on Thursday, to talk about her Jana Bibi adventure series.
  • Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo. The husband and wife team who have written so many hit songs together will be at the Capitol Center for the Arts at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
  • Summer fun. The New Hampshire Liquor Commission’s Summer Fun Tour 2013 will stop by the Storrs Street store at 3:30 p.m. Enter to win prizes and enjoy specials at the store.
