Flood Watch for Concord, Merrimack County

Heavy rain expected until 9 p.m. on Aug. 9.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch warning for Merrimack County and Concord as a major cold front moves through the region.

Expect scattered thunderstorms, heavy at times, with downpours resulting in possible “rapid rises of streams” and flash flooding of roadways and urban areas in southern and central New Hampshire.

Through tonight, as much as three inches of rain is expected in some areas, according to the alert.

By 9 p.m., the rain is expected to taper off but more flooding may occur as rivers and streams swell due to the excess rain that falls during the storm.
