Concord Storm Center: Emergency Workers Kept Busy

The first storm of 2014 for Concord, Penacook is expected to end later sometime Friday morning.

11:05 a.m. Here's a roundup of snowfall totals for Concord and the region

10:52 a.m. It's a balmy 5 degrees outside in Concord right now. The snow has stopped and the sun is shining. It looks like we got between eight and nine inches of snow in the city. How are things going out there? The General Services Department has been out and about clearing up the snow. 8:46 a.m. The parks and recreation department has announced that the Bill Koch Ski League has been cancelled for the day

The first storm of 2014 dumped about six inches of snow on Concord with more to come, and temperatures dropped down into the single digits and below zero in some areas of the state.

5:38 p.m. Here's an update on how things are going from Concord's General Services Department

11:55 a.m. Gov. Maggie Hassan, D-Exeter, issued the following statement about the storm
 
11:35 a.m. 
Manchester-Boston Regional Airport is now starting to report some flight delays and cancellations. Logan Airport in Boston is already saying it will cease operations at 8 p.m. and resume tomorrow afternoon.

11:31 a.m. Senior Bone Builders, a Concord Parks & Recreation program, has been cancelled for Friday. 

10:47 a.m. Here are more details about the I-93N car incident in Bow: I-93 North at I-89 in Bow Closed

10:31 a.m. Fire command reporting that I-93 north is completely closed due to multi-car accident. Bow Fire and other EMTs called to the accident to help clear the scene and deal with those that were injured. 

10:18 a.m. Concord Fire and Rescue teams called to I-93 north at I-89 for two accidents with multiple cars and personal injuries reported. 

9:52 a.m. Gov. Maggie Hassan, D-Exeter, issues a safety alert on Twitter, requesting Granite Staters to "exercise caution" on the roads.

It’s time to be prepared and be safe: The first snowstorm of 2014 is hitting Concord and Penacook and is expected to dump as much as a foot of the white stuff by tomorrow. Here is all you need to know about the storm, including emergency numbers and links. 

Latest Forecast

The National Weather Service said that the low-pressure system off Cap Cod will produce “moderate snowfall” during the next 24 hours from the Cape to northern New England. Expect light snow, often with heavy winds creating limited visibility and blizzard conditions in some locations. Tonight, the temperature will drop and windchill facts will make it seem like it is below zero for most of the night.

For Concord, through Friday, expect as much as eight to 12 inches of snow accumulating by the end of the storm. The snowfall will be heaviest during the overnight hours. The roads will be slippery. Winds will gust to 25 mph at times. 

The NWS hazardous weather conditions alert is live until 3 a.m. on Jan. 3.
