Bonner Shares Concord with the NBA.com

The San Antonio Spur took a spin around the old neighborhood.

The San Antonio Spurs were recently in the area to face-off against the Boston Celtics (they beat Celtics, 104-92), giving hometown hero Matt Bonner a chance to visit his old stomping grounds, with an NBA.com camera crew, according to a video posted on the league’s website.

Bonner took the video crew on a quick tour of Concord – or “Conk-kid,” as he called it, in “New-Hamp-shah” – and showed them the places he grew up. He took them to some of the courts he played on as a kid – at Rollins Park and the West Street Park – and showed off the bleachers he used to do sprints up and down, at Memorial Field.

The crew drove by Concord High School too, noting that he helped the school win three state championships.

“Glory days,” he said.

The last stop was White Park, for more talk about playing hoops at “the best pickup in the city,” as well as the great time he had sledding on King Hill, “which is now half as dangerous as it used to be … You could fly down that sucka.”
