Fair Trade Baskets from Botswana Available in Concord

Granite State Naturals has many styles of this unique gift for sale.

If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind gift to purchase during Small Business Saturday on Nov. 30, check out these baskets at Granite State Naturals on North State Street in Concord.

The baskets, handmade in Botswana, are part of a fair trade exchange program promoted by Botswanacraft, a company that has been exporting baskets and other items for about two decades.

Granite State Naturals has been in business since the early 1970s, and offers an array of goods, foods, medicines, and other items.

Lori Myers, a community outreach manager at the store, said the purchase helps the women in African who make them by hand. She said since bringing them into the store recently, they’ve been flying out.

“We’re going to have to make a separate display, because they are so popular,” she said. “What a great gift … leather handles … how much fun. You can’t find that at T.J.Maxx.”

The baskets run from $25 to $42 a piece.
