Dunton Named to Lead NHTI in Concord

Dr. Susan Dunton has been named president of the New Hampshire Technical Institute, Concord’s Community College, and will take the position effective on July 1, according to a notice by Dr. Ross Gittell, Chancellor, of the Community College System of New Hampshire.

According to a letter to students and faculty at NHTI, Gittell recommended Dunton "from a diverse and talented pool of candidates" adding that "her personal integrity, commitment to the community college mission, background in higher education and her demonstrated abilities make her the right person to lead the college and be a key part of our leadership team at CCSNH."

Dunton has experience in college administration, academic affairs and student services across more than three decades at institutions. She has previously worked at Lesley College, the Harvard Divinity School, Fisher College, Bethel University in McKenzie, and Fontbonne University.

"She is committed to academic excellence, innovation, partnerships that broaden access and strengthen career opportunities for students, and the cultivation of a robust college community," Gitell noted. "She has facilitated partnerships between community college and four-year research and technical institutions and developed academic programs to meet emerging workforce needs.  She has extensive experience directing student life initiatives and student support services. Her teaching experience includes courses in management, human resources and career development."

Dunton replaced Lynn Kilchenstein who announced last year that she would be retiring from the position
