Jette is New Assistant Superintendent in Bedford

The assistant superintendent spent the last 10 years as principal of Merrimack Valley High School in Penacook.

The Bedford School Board on April 7 accepted the nomination of Michael Jette, principal of Merrimack Valley High School, to be the next Assistant Superintendent.

"I am looking forward to learning more about the district, the programs and the people who have established the excellent reputation in Bedford," Jette said after the selection.

Superintendent-elect Chip McGee, who starts July 1 with the retirement of Tim Mayes, added, "I am excited that Michael is joining us. He will bring his classroom experience, fresh eyes, and positive energy to the school district as we move into our next phase."

Excerpts from the Bedford School Board press release on the Michael Jette hire:

Dr. Jette has spent the past 23 years at Merrimack Valley High School in Penacook, NH. He has served as a chemistry and physics teacher, an assistant principal, and, for the last ten years, as the principal. Dr. Jette earned his Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree from the State University of New York, Plattsburg. He earned his Doctorate in Education from the University of New
Hampshire in 2005. Dr. Jette also serves as a Commissioner for the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, and was selected as New Hampshire High School Principal of the Year in 2010.

The search process started with over 30 qualified applicants from across the northeast. The district hosted three finalists in March. All three finalists met with groups of students, parents, teachers, and administrators. Dr. McGee commented, "All three finalists were superb educators. We are fortunate to have had such high caliber educators apply for the position."
