A Rockin’ Fundraiser for the Shaker Road School Parent Teacher Group

Event held at Orange Leaf on North Main Street in Concord on May 30.

Shaker Road School in Concord has a lot of talented, hard-working student musicians, and on May 30, from 6-8pm, these students get a chance to share their hard work with the public.
The Shaker Road School Jazz Band, and the school’s student rock band, The Nest, will perform at Orange Leaf, along with special guests, Concord’s own Pat & The Hats.
Orange Leaf is located at 70 N. Main St. in Concord. This in-store concert benefits the Shaker Road School PTG, with 20 percent of proceeds from frozen yogurt sales that night going directly to the PTG.
Music is a popular activity at Shaker Road School and an important part of the curriculum. The members of the student jazz and rock bands are students who have chosen to put extra effort and dedication into their craft. The student instrumentalists and vocalists gain valuable experience as musicians and performers from these public appearances.
According to Scott Solsky, the band director at Shaker Road School, many students also gain confidence from being able to play in front of an audience comprised of not just family members, but also of community members.  The student performers will perform jazz and rock standards, and special guests Pat & The Hats bring a pop-rock sensibility to the occasion, with crisp song-writing.
Pat & The Hats also includes two Shaker Road School music faculty as members, which gives students a chance to see their own teachers practice what they teach.  Shaker Road School is an independent school located in Concord, New Hampshire, founded in 1979.
