White Park Mid-Summer Basketball Classic to be held Sunday, July 21

Early in the spring of 2013, The Frank Monahan Foundation and Rock On Foundation (a 501c3 nonprofit organization) joined forces to upgrade the White Park basketball court in Concord, NH. The partnership is a dual effort to improve the community and to revamp the basketball scene in the capitol region.

Due to the success of its spring events, Rock On Foundation was able to donate $8,000 to the City of Concord to support this project (a portion of which came as a gift from Chris Paul's CP3 Foundation). Combined with The Frank Monahan Foundation's donation to the city, new glass backboard hoops, new benches, and a new electrical box have already been installed at the park--with additional plans to complete the project for next summer. Both organizations are also planning to work together to bring a new high school basketball summer league to the park next year.

To celebrate the current upgrades, a high school tournament is being held at the court this Sunday evening (July 21, 2013). It will be a 4 team tournament featuring Concord High School, Bishop Brady High School, Merrimack Valley High School, and Newport High School. The first game tips off at 6:00PM.

The schedule is as follows:

6:00 PM-Merrimack valley HS vs Bishop Brady HS

7:00 PM-Concord HS vs Newport HS

8:00 PM-CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

Furthermore, the games are going to be refereed by Rock On Foundation board members Luke Bonner and his brother Matt Bonner of the San Antonio Spurs.

It should be a great evening for the local basketball scene and the community as a whole. All are encouraged to bring a lawn chair and come out to enjoy the games. See you there!
