General Services is reporting that the water has been turned back on in the South End around the areas of the water main leak. The streets, however, remain closed. The trench is being backfilled, according to Bossone.

UPDATE, 12:14 p.m.
Angelina Bossone, the communications coordinator for the General Services Department, is reporting that the streets in the South End shut down due to a water main leak will be closed "until further notice." She noted that the water had to be shut down and a lot of water was lost from the tanks, so the pressure around the city is very low. "The pumps have been turned on at the plant to refill the system, but it is a slow process and may take into tomorrow to fill back up," Bossone said in an email. Crews are still currently working to fix the break.

The previous report is below:

A number of South End streets are closed to traffic this morning due to a water main leak.

The sections of the streets that are closed are South State Street from Downing to Thorndike. Perley Street from Grove to South Main is also closed, according to the alert.

Concord's General Services Department posted an emergency closure alert at just before 6 a.m. on April 22.
