VIDEO: Bass Dishes Pasta in Concord

Candidate thanks supporters for their help.

U.S. Rep. Charles Bass, R-NH-2, hosted a pasta dinner at the Beaver Meadow Golf Course on Nov. 4, thanking supporters for their help in his re-election campaign while asking everyone to rest up for Election Day

Bass said he had been hosting the dinners around the state in the waning days of what has become one of the most closely watched Congressional races in the country.

The 2nd Congressional District race is a 2010 re-match between Bass, who won in a squeaker last time, and Democrat Ann McLane Kuster and Libertarian Hardy Macia.

Bass admitted that the race had become particularly nasty between the two who have known each other for years and have always had a cordial relationship. Despite being pro-choice and an affirmed environmentalist, Bass has been hammered by a slew of negative ads and mailers about his voting record. The Republican Congressional Campaign Committee and Bass himself have countered with ads focused on a recent spat between Kuster and a Bass staffer and Kuster's previous work supporting a state-wide income tax.

Most polls show Bass either slightly behind, within the margin of error, or losing the race. However, he said, the numbers couldn't be trusted.

"Don't believe them," Bass said with a smile. "I'm going to win."
