Professional Artists Sought for NH Arts in Education Roster

The N.H. State Council on the Arts has announced that May 2, is the deadline for professional artists to apply for the New Hampshire Arts in Education Artist Roster.

The roster serves as a resource for educators interested in bringing experienced teaching artists into classrooms to work with youth, including through the Arts Council’s Artist Residencies in Schools for Arts Learning grant program. 

Members of the Arts in Education Roster are practicing professional artists who have the ability to use the arts as a tool for a variety of learning experiences. These artists may work in school classrooms, afterschool settings, summer arts programs, community-based programs such as community festivals, or in correctional facilities.

Professional artists with experience or training that relates to working in classrooms, schools and other educational settings, and who can make a strong personal commitment to working in an educational setting are encouraged to apply. New Hampshire’s Arts in Education roster includes artists from diverse arts disciplines and cultures that live in various regions across the state. 

The evaluation criteria include: evidence of artistic excellence, exceptional communication and teaching skills, experience and ability to work in educational and community-based settings, innovative and motivating ideas for residency plans and methods to implement them, and a commitment to professional development.

State Council on the Arts, 19 Pillsbury St., Concord, by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, May 2, 2014.
