Concord Named One of the Smartest Cities in America

Is our community smarter than other cities across the United States? What do you think?

Was there really any doubt that Concord would be considered a “smart” city? With the hub of state government, lawyers and doctors, and artists and creative people doing all kinds of interesting and compelling things, it shouldn’t come as a surprise.

However, now we all know: A new study compiled by Lumosity has named the city of Concord one of the smartest cities in the country, according to a post on VentureBeat.com.

In the study, economists and researchers analyzed data collected from cities based on a number of variables, put them all in the mental blender, and compiled all the data.

When all was said and done, Concord ranked 55th in the complete overall score rankings of the core statistical areas.

Other New England communities and areas making the list include Claremont-Lebanon-Upper Valley of New Hampshire and Vermont at 27 (more than likely due to its proximity to Dartmouth), Burlington-South Burlington, VT at 38 (again, another college hub), Boston-Cambridge-Newtown, MA-NH came in at 49 (no surprise there), and Keene at 50th (again, another college city).

Laconia came in at 120 and Manchester-Nashua was listed at 142th.

Concord listed so high in the overall rankings shouldn’t come as a surprise since the city has historically been ranked in the Top 10 on the Policom Corporation listing of micropolitan communities, coming in first in 2013 and 2012.
