Concord, Other Companies Get Job Training Grants

Continuing her efforts to help New Hampshire workers develop the skills and innovative thinking needed for jobs in the 21st century economy, Gov. Maggie Hassan announced this week that four New Hampshire companies have been awarded job training grants to help them train 307 workers in new skills.

The job training grants total $57,466, and the companies contributed matching funds to bring the total amount for training workers to $114,932.

“I am pleased to announce this newest round of important grants to help New Hampshire workers develop skills for high-quality jobs at growing businesses,” Governor Hassan said. “New Hampshire’s Job Training Fund is a critical resource that has helped provide essential skills to thousands of workers. We must maintain our commitment to higher education and job training in order to attract innovative businesses, help existing companies grow, and support the creation of good jobs for New Hampshire’s middle class families.”

• Early Learning New Hampshire of Concord received a grant of up to $26,005.50 for 63 employees to receive training in a variety of early childhood courses offered by Great Bay Community College.

• A grant of $6,500 was awarded to Optics 1 of Bedford for training eight employees in Tolerance and Precision Machining by Custom Group of Woburn, Mass.

• AIRMAR Technology of Milford received a Job Training Fund grant of $20,841.50 for Manchester Community College to train 225 employees in Quality Control, Measurement and Microsoft Office.

• MaineLine Graphics LLC of Deering received a grant of up to $4,119 for 11 employees to take safety courses and receive executive training from the Safety and Health Council of Northern New England and Westvale Consulting LLC.

The Job Training Fund has awarded $7,134,132.14 in grants since October 2007, with employers contributing $9,767,133.61 for a total of $16,901,265.75 in new training for 21,516 New Hampshire workers.
