City Spends $20K on New Chairs for Councilors, Others

Old chairs get shared with other Concord governmental departments, employees.

The next time you attend a public meeting in the Concord City Council Chambers on Green Street you’re going to see board members enjoying some snazzy new leather chairs.

The city recently spent $19,975 purchasing 17 new Chippendale swivel chairs, in Chesterfield pecan leather, from Endicott Furniture on South Main Street. The new chairs replaced ones that were about 30 years old and in reportedly in need of repair or replacement.

The old chairs were moved around to other departments, including the police department, which received six of the old chairs for its library space. Other city officials, like City Solicitor Jim Kennedy, were seen wheeling them around the City Hall complex earlier this month after the new chairs were delivered.
