5 Things You Need to Know Today in Concord: Nov. 13

1. Wet and then dry again. Expect some morning showers before noon time and then, clear skies, with temperatures in the 50s. Overnight, it will be clear with temps dropping into the low 20s.

2. Breaking the mold. Artists Shanda McLane and Susan Wahlrab have a new show at McGowan Fine Arts. The show opens today and runs through Dec. 14. The gallery opens at 10 a.m. and is free and open to the public. An artist reception will be held at 5 p.m. on Nov. 16.

3. Worker migration in China. The World Affairs Council of New Hampshire hosts a free showing of the documentary film, at 7 p.m. at Red River Theatres. Lawrence Reardon, a professor at UNH, will speak after the showing. The showing is free but donations will be accepted.

4. Should you be concerned about light pollution? The Science Café NH will discuss dark skies and light pollution at The Barley House at 7 p.m., in a co-sponsored discussion with the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center. The event is free.

5. Other stuff. Dance Inspirations hosts a Zumba class at 9:30 a.m. The Green Street Community Center hosts an adult open gym at 11:45 a.m. for $3. Concord Dance Academy has a Zumba toning class at 5:30 p.m. A biggest loser weight loss challenge is held at 6 p.m. at Primetime Wellness Club. The Concord City Council meets at 7 p.m. Uno’s has trivia fun in the bar at 8 p.m.
