‘Zombie Tag’ in White Park Leads to Summons

Concord Police allege Milford teen violated city ordinance after previous warning.

A Milford teen will be in court next month to face a city ordinance charge after allegedly being caught in the park after hours.

Timothy Murphy, 18, of Milford, received a summons at 2:20 a.m. on Dec. 5, for conduct prohibited in parks, a city ordinance violation.

According to a police report, officers were dispatched to White Park for a report of as many as four individuals in the park after hours in the area of the playground.

One of the officers headed to the Liberty Street side of the park. While exiting the police cruiser, the officer reportedly heard noises in the park and turned a flashlight to the area and observed two white men lying on the ground “in an attempt to hide from me.” Another man was a short distance away, the officer noted.

The young men reportedly told the officer they were playing zombie tag in the park.

The officer recognized one of the men, Murphy, from a previous warning about being in the park at night the previous month, on Nov. 22. The officer reportedly told Murphy at that time that the park closed at 11 p.m.

“I asked Murphy about this and he said he forgot,” the officer alleged.

Murphy received a summons and is due in Sixth Circuit District Division Court on Jan. 6, 2014.

The two other men were advised of park hours and later, all three were sent on their way, the officer reported.
