Police to Increase Traffic Enforcement on Loudon Road

Accident data shows need to intensify effort, according to police.

Concord Police will be stepping up traffic patrols and enforcement on Loudon Road, according to a statement on April 23.

The effort, according to Lt. Timothy O'Malley, the commander of the criminal investigations unit of the department, is "to reduce accidents along the Loudon Road corridor." The department will be "conducting directed traffic patrols aimed at increasing motor vehicle and pedestrian safety," he noted in a statement.

"These patrols will be focused on addressing hazardous motor vehicle violations and speeding violations particularly in the area of intersections and pedestrian crossings," he said. "Officers assigned to these directed patrols will be enforcing motor vehicle laws targeted at aggressive drivers and those that jeopardize the safety of both the motoring public and pedestrians."

O'Malley noted that Loudon Road was "a very highly traveled and congested corridor in the City," with parks, pools, apartments, and a large sector of commercial businesses. A recent overview of accidents in the area showed the need to increase enforcement, he said.

O'Malley said the patrols will be utilized during the summer along with grant funding and held during various hours of the day.
