Police: Man Shoots Another Man in the Head with a Flare Gun

Homeless man faces felony charges after incident on Loudon Road in Concord.

A homeless man is facing felony charges after allegedly shooting another man in the head with a flare gun on Loudon Road.

Frank Treecarten, 63, a homeless man now located in Concord, was arrested at around 2 p.m. on Dec. 21.

According to a police statement, officers and fire and rescue teams were called to the intersection of Loudon Road and Fort Eddy Road around 1:30 p.m. for a report of a man shot in the head with a flare gun.

The suspect allegedly also brandished a knife, according to Watch Commander Lt. John Zbehlik of the Concord Police Department.

The man who was shot was transported to Concord Hospital with a head injury that appears to be non-life threatening, according to police.

Treecarten was then charged with second-degree assault and falsifying physical evidence, both felonies. He was held on $10,000 cash bail and will be arraigned in court on Dec. 23.

Police say the investigation into the matter continues at post time.
