POLICE LOG: More Problems in the Vegas Block Apartments

The following information was supplied by the Concord Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

  • Lauren Beckwith, 22, of Concord, received a summons at 12:13 p.m. on Feb. 18, on a driving after revocation or suspension charge, at the intersection of North State Street and Parmenter Road. While parked at LAD Welding on Fisherville Road, an officer reported seeing a white station wagon with an August 2012 inspection sticker on the windshield drive by. The vehicle was pulled over and the operator, Beckwith, reported that it was her boyfriend’s car. After eyeing her license and registration for the vehicle, it was revealed that Beckwith’s license was suspended on Jan. 2, for default of a court summons. Beckwith was arraigned March 18.
  • Jessica Reynolds, 39, of Northwood, was arrested at 5:47 p.m. on Feb. 18, and charged with driving after revocation or suspension and suspended registration (operating-misd). After driving out of the Buffalo Wild Wings parking lot onto Loudon Road, an officer reportedly did a check of a vehicle which came back that the owner’s license was suspended and the vehicle’s registration suspended. The vehicle was stopped at Rocky’s Ace Hardware and the driver, Reynolds, was arrested. According to the DMV, Reynold’s license was suspended on Feb. 2, for failure to pay a court fine. She was released on $2,000 personal recognizance bail and was arraigned on March 18.
  • Robert E. Martel, 29, of Concord, was arrested at 12:43 a.m. on Feb. 19, and charged with simple assault (personal weapons), criminal mischief (vandalism), and obstructing report of crime or injury. Officers were called to an apartment on Alice Drive for a report of a domestic disturbance where a man was intoxicated and breaking things. When the officers arrived, they were called over by Martel who was “having trouble standing and was slurring his words” near the mailboxes outside. Martel reportedly told officers he was at an establishment on South Main Street with a friend and when he returned home, he got into an argument with his wife about a tattoo she just had done. He denied getting physical with her. Another officer spoke to the woman who answered the apartment door. She was “shaking and appeared to be afraid,” according to the officer. An argument, she alleged, occurred earlier in the day when Martel reportedly said he was going out and the woman suggested that he not drink too much. She alleged that Martel came home after midnight and was attempting to smoke inside the apartment, something she didn’t want since they have children in the apartment. She allegedly heard the bathroom fan on and went to check on the situation and Martel allegedly became angry, slammed a door, and broke a fan. The woman went to call police and Martel allegedly grabbed the phone and threw it, while hitting her on the cheek in the process, and later left the apartment. Martel was arrested and charged. He was later released on $5,000 personal recognizance bail and was arraigned on March 18.
  • Nathan Sean Sarazin, 22, of Concord, was arrested at 11:25 p.m. on Feb. 27, on a simple assault (personal weapons) charge. The charge stems from an alleged incident at the Applebee’s on Loudon Road on Feb. 12. Sarazin turned himself into police and was released on $2,000 personal recognizance bail. He will be arraigned on April 1.
  • Casey Lee Welcome, 19, of Boscawen, was arrested at 5:02 p.m. on Feb. 28, on a criminal mischief (vandalism) charge. An officer was called to Alice Drive for a report of a domestic dispute between two women yelling and screaming at each other. Upon arrival, the officer alleged that he could hear the women screaming. While walking up to the apartment, one woman exited the building and made a comment to the officer. The officer continued to the apartment and knocked on the door. A woman reportedly answered the door and let the officer in. In the living room, the two women who were arguing were separated while another officer arrived at the scene. One woman reportedly stated that she was having an argument with her girlfriend concerning cigarettes. When the officer asked if the argument had gotten physical or anything was damaged, the woman alleged that Welcome kicked in a locked bedroom door while trying to obtain her belongings in order to leave. The officer viewed the door and confirmed that it was damaged. Welcome was arrested. The other witnesses though declined to give statements. Welcome was later released on $2,000 and will be arraigned on April 1.
  • Matthew T. Caldwell, 33, of Concord, was arrested at 1:24 a.m. on March 9, on a driving while intoxicated charge and a summons for highway markings violation. An officer was called to North State Street near the prison for a report of a possibly impaired driver driving a dark colored sedan, a 2000 Nissan Altima. The officer headed to that area and found the vehicle near Knight Street and caught up with it and the reported witness. The officer followed the vehicles and alleged that the Nissan crossed over the yellow line a number of times. The officer attempted to pull the vehicle over at Fisherville Road but the driver allegedly didn’t stop until after the officer activated the cruiser’s siren. The officer alleged that Caldwell “gazed blankly at me” while asking for his ID and that “his pupils were large and dilated.” Caldwell allegedly handed the officer the car’s inspection notification and was “slow and lethargic” during his interaction with him. Another officer arrived at the scene while Caldwell was given a field sobriety test. He was later arrested and released on $1,000 personal recognizance bail. He was arraigned on March 25.
  • Jason Derek Woody, 30, a homeless man now located in Concord, was arrested at 12:42 p.m. on March 11, on a warrant from the Pembroke Police Department for violation of a protection order. Police put out an alert looking for a 1995 Geo Tracker and Woody on the day in question. A tipster informed police that Woody had allegedly just left The Friendly Kitchen in the Geo. A few minutes later, an officer stopped the vehicle in the parking lot of the Tea Garden on North Main Street. Woody was allegedly a passenger in the car. He was arrested and transported to the Meat House on Sheep Davis Road where Pembroke Police picked him up.
  • Alexander I. Vincent-Smith, 22, of Concord, was arrested at 2:22 a.m. on March 12, on four bench warrants. While monitoring traffic at The Medicine Store and Wellness Corner on South Main Street, an officer reportedly observed an electric scooter pass by with Vincent-Smith on it. The officer asked dispatch to run a check on him and they found four warrants out for his arrest. The warrants were for March 6, from the Concord District Court, for reckless operation, two driving after revocation or suspension charges, and simple assault (mutual combat). He was arrested and later released on $3,000 personal recognizance bail.
  • Michael J. Harper, 44, of Concord, was arrested at 1:30 p.m. on March 13, on a bench warrant out of Concord District Court for unpaid fine. While investigating a forged check case, an officer ran a background check on Harper and found a bench warrant from Concord District Court for nonpayment of a fine on an operating after suspension charge from March 5, with $385 cash to settle. The officer went to Pleasant Street to arrest Harper on the warrant. At the time of the arrest, Harper was on parole, and was unable to come up with the cash to settle. Personal recognizance bail was also set for $500. He was arraigned on March 14.
  • Brandon W. Holler, 31, of Concord, was arrested at 3:58 p.m. on March 14, and charged with four felony counts of forgery and four receiving stolen property charges. The charges stem from alleged incidents at the TD Bank on North Main Street on Oct. 12, 2012, and Jan. 3, and the TD Bank on Sheep Davis on Oct. 19, 2012, and Dec. 28, 2012. Checks totaling $1,120, were allegedly issued in the case. According to an arrest report, Holler was being held at the Merrimack County House of Correction when the charges were issued against him. He was arraigned remotely on March 15.
  • Daniel Paul Shea, 21, of Concord, was arrested at 1:27 a.m. on March 16, on a criminal mischief (vandalism) charge. Officers received a call around 12:45 a.m. and were sent to North Main Street to check on the wellbeing of Shea after reportedly receiving a call from his mother saying he had just left her home and she was concerned for his welfare. About 15 minutes later, Shea was located behind The Concord Center on Ferry Street. Officers stated that Shea seemed OK and he agreed to return home because it was too cold outside to sleep. About 20 minutes later, Shea's father called 911 on behalf of the mother asking police to respond to the address for an unknown problem. The mother met the officers outside and said Shea couldn’t stay at the home that night because it wasn’t going to work out. Earlier in the morning, she alleged, Shea got upset and hit her in the head and threw a can of cashews and broke a window. She alleged that he also threw a candle. The officers entered the home and met Shea and his brother in the dining room. Shea allegedly told the officer that the two began to argue after he became upset about her comments about how he should live his life. Shea denied hitting his mother but allegedly confirmed that he threw items. He allegedly stated it was no big deal that he broke the window and was then arrested. Shea refused bail and was arraigned on March 18.
  • Jonathan Michael McCarthy Jr., 30, of Concord, was arrested at 12:57 a.m. on March 17, on two warrants. Officers were called to the Vegas Block Apartment Building for a report of a fight. Upon arrival, the reporting officer allegedly saw McCarthy engaging another man on the floor. The men were separated by officers with one alleging that McCarthy was “highly intoxicated” and his lips were bloody. He allegedly refused to speak about what was going on prior to the arrival of the officers. While waiting for a report from other officers, dispatch reported that McCarthy was wanted on two warrants. One, a failure to appear charge from a previous simple assault charge, was issued on March 8, with $1,000 cash bail. The second was from the Seabrook Police Department for theft by unauthorized taking from March 7. McCarthy was arrested and arraigned remotely on March 18.
