Quebec man injured, according to Troop B/Bedford troopers.

At about 6:45 a.m. on July 24, Troopers from Troop B in Bedford responded to a reported rollover accident at Route 101 and Interstate 93 in Manchester. They located the accident on the Interstate 93 southbound Exit 7 off ramp to Route 101 eastbound. Troopers found a tractor trailer rolled over in the median between I-93 southbound and Route 101 eastbound. No other vehicles were involved.

Troopers determined the truck had been traveling southbound on I-93 and attempted to take the ramp onto Route 101 eastbound. The driver failed to negotiate the curve and the truck entered the right breakdown lane. When the driver overcorrected, the vehicle rolled over to its right. It struck the guardrail, went through it and struck the concrete bridge abutment. The truck rolled over onto its passenger side and slid left across the travel lanes. The truck came to rest in the median. During this rollover, the truck’s cargo container broke free from the trailer and landed in the right breakdown lane.

The eastbound lanes of Route 101 from I-93 south were restricted to one lane of travel for approximately six hours while Troopers investigated and wreckers removed the cargo container and tractor trailer.

Personnel from the NH Department of Transportation were at the scene with Troopers throughout the day, including personnel from NH DOT Bridge Maintenance. They inspected the bridge abutment and determined it to be sound.  Other emergency repairs will take place later this date.

Preliminary investigation indicates driver inattention was the cause of this accident.

The accident remains under investigation by Trooper Mark Dore of Troop B.  Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact him at 603-666-3333.
