Fugitive Caught at Campground

A recent Fugitive of the Week, Paul Gerald Grace, has been arrested at a campground in Derry.  

Grace, 43, was last known to live in Methuen, Mass. was wanted on two outstanding arrest warrants. The Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office was seeking Grace on an outstanding arrest warrant for possession with intent to distribute prescription drugs and Grace was also wanted by the Strafford County Sheriff’s Office for failing to appear on a charge of operating a vehicle while being deemed a habitual offender. 

As part of the U.S. Marshals fugitive investigation, Grace was featured as the “Fugitive of the Week” on June 26. The “Fugitive of the Week” is broadcast on WTPL-FM, WMUR-TV, The Union Leader, The Nashua Telegraph, The Patch, Foster’s Daily Democrat and is prominently featured on the internet. The “Fugitive of the Week” has been a very successful tool that has resulted in the location and arrest of numerous fugitives since its implementation in 2007. 

The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force received several tips regarding the whereabouts of Grace since he was featured as the “Fugitive of the Week” on June 26. These tips led investigators to a Derry campground, where a family member of Grace’s had a camper. Grace was located inside this camper and was arrested without incident and brought to the Rockingham County Jail for processing on the two outstanding arrest warrants.  Grace will be held in custody, pending his initial court appearance on the outstanding Rockingham County warrant for drug distribution.  Once Grace has cleared up his criminal matters in Rockingham County, he will be transferred to Strafford County to resolve his outstanding warrant for failing to appear for being a habitual offender.   

The arrest was made by members of the U.S. Marshal’s - N.H. Joint Fugitive Task Force, including members from the Rockingham and Strafford County Sheriff’s Offices, Deputy U.S. Marshals with additional assistance from the Derry Police Department. 

Since the inception of the New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force in 2002, these partnerships have resulted in over 5,523 arrests.  These arrests have ranged in seriousness from murder, assault, unregistered sex offenders, probation and parole violations and numerous other serious offenses.  Nationally the United States Marshals Service fugitive programs are carried out with local law enforcement in 94 district offices, 85 local fugitive task forces, 7 regional task forces, as well as a growing network of offices in foreign countries.
