CRIME LOG: Woman Arrested for Allegedly Hitting Husband with Tablet

The following information was supplied by the Concord Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

  • Brittany Leigh Sanville, 23, of Grafton, was arrested at 12:20 p.m. on April 9, and charged with simple assault (personal weapons) and a bench warrant. At a little before noon, an officer was dispatched to T.J.Maxx on Loudon Road for a report of a domestic disturbance involving a couple who were standing outside a red Toyota near the postal service drop boxes in the northern part of the parking lot. The office first spoke to Sanville who was “crying and visibly shaken up,” according to the officer, due to a fight with her husband who was now at the Shell station next door. Other officers began looking for Sanville’s husband while the officer spoke with Sanville. Sanville reportedly said the couple had a verbal fight. A child was reported in the back seat. A check of Sanville’s criminal history yielded a warrant out of Franklin District Court from March on a disorderly conduct charge and she was arrested. A witness told police that she was driving down Centre Street when she observed the couple screaming at each other. She took down the plate of the car, followed the car to the parking, and called police. Another officer spoke to the husband who reportedly had a bloody lip. The husband alleged that the two had been at a local clinic earlier in the day and then dropped a friend off in another part of the city. After that, they began to argue, he said. The husband alleged that his wife of six years assaulted him. “She began flailing her arms around,” the officer reported, hitting him at least four times, once with a tablet. Sanville was held without bail and arraigned on April 10.
  • Bryan Batchelder, 43, of Salisbury, was arrested at 12:55 p.m. on April 7, on a theft charge. Officers were called to Hannaford Supermarket on Fort Eddy Road for a shoplifter in custody. The employee stated that he was watching Batchelder via closed circuit video as he selected razors from a display in the store and then went to another part of the story where he allegedly concealed the razors in a bag he was carrying. The employee alleged that Batchelder went back to the display and grabbed another razor and concealed it in the bag, as well as a bottle of wine. Batchelder allegedly left the store without paying for the items, the employee said. Out on the sidewalk, Batchelder was reportedly stopped and about $75 worth of items were recovered. He was later arrested and released on $5,000 personal recognizance bail. He had a court date on May 13.
  • Veronica Barnhart, 18, of Boscawen, was arrested at 5:18 p.m. on April 30, on a driving after revocation or suspension charge. While in the parking lot of the Lun Hing Hotel monitoring traffic, an officer reportedly saw a Ford drive by with a yellow September 2012 inspection sticker with a May 2013 sticker on the license plate. The officer pulled the car over near Fisherville Road and Rex Drive. The officer reportedly requested a license and registration but Barnhart allegedly stated she didn’t have her license because it was suspended. The officer did a SPOTS check and found the license was suspended on April 27. Barnhart was also found guilty of operating after suspension on Feb. 19, in Concord District Court. She was arrested and later, released on $2,000 personal recognizance bail. Barnhart also received a summons for driving an uninspected vehicle. She is due in court on June 3.
  • Carey J. Spear, 41, received a summons at 8:45 p.m. on May 6, on a warrant. An officer was called to the area around the Vegas Block apartments at North Main Street for a report of a man down on the sidewalk, possibly unconscious. When the officer arrived, Spear was reportedly being assisted by a parent and the officer began to leave the area. However, dispatch informed the officer that Spear had an active warrant for his arrest out of Merrimack County. Officers went to Crestwood Drive to take him into custody. “We attempted to get Spear into a cruiser, but he was unable to walk or speak,” the officer wrote, so Concord Fire and Rescue was called to transport him to Concord Hospital. At the hospital, the Merrimack County Sheriff’s Office took custody of Spear on a nonpayment of child support charge, with $1,500 cash bail required. After being treated at the ER, Spear was released to the sheriff’s department.

At the intersection of North Main and Pleasant streets, an officer reportedly observed a 2001 Saturn make a right turn on red onto South Main Street which is not allowed at the intersection. The officer pulled the vehicle over outside the Concord Food Co-op. The driver, Robinson, according to dispatch, had a warrant out of Plymouth District Court from Feb. 26, for nonpayment of fine on an uninspected vehicle charge, with $162 cash to settle.
