CRIME LOG: Concord Man Arrested for Drug Dealing

The following information was supplied by the Concord Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Michael Campbell, 45, of Northwood, was arrested at 12:55 a.m. on March 9, on a driving while intoxicated charge. An officer and a sergeant were sent to North Main Street for a report of an intoxicated man attempting to drive. The man, Campbell, was allegedly “swaying side to side” with the sergeant attempting to stabilize him. Campbell allegedly smelled like alcohol, had glassy, red eyes, and was speaking slowly while slurring. He agreed to a field sobriety test and was later arrested. He was arraigned on March 24.

Lucy Wigglesworth Chase, 21, of Concord, was arrested at 1:40 a.m. on March 9, and charged with two counts of driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated, possession of drugs, and possession of controlled drugs. While clearing a stop on Loudon Road, officers observed a Toyota Corolla driving in reverse in the far right turning lane at North Main and Centre streets. The vehicle made a left hand turn that crossed three lanes of traffic and was later stopped. The officer alleged that Chase, the driver, “had bloodshot watery eyes” as if she was crying. She reportedly said she was fine though. While talking to Chase, the officer alleged that she smelled like alcohol. She agreed to field sobriety tests and was arrested. During an inventory of the vehicle, officers allegedly found marijuana and a grinder. She was later transported to Concord Hospital for medical attention and the put in protective custody. She was arraigned on March 24.

Matthew Bombaci, 30, of Northwood, was arrested at 4:30 p.m. on March 9, and charged with possession of controlled drugs, a felony, possession of drugs, and receiving stolen property. Officers pulled over a 1994 Toyota Tercel on I-393 West near Exit 2 for a person who might be involved in an incident at the Sprint store on D’Amante Drive about 40 minutes before. A store employee alleged that a man came into the store and made a call from a demo phone. The man was yelling on the phone about a gun and methadone, as well as other references to drugs, the employee alleged, which made everyone in the store uncomfortable. The man reportedly then used his own phone and was taking to another person about selling drugs. The man then attempted to apply for a store contract and later, asked if the employees knew where to buy drugs, and they asked him to leave. A description of the man and the vehicle was given to police but a check of the Toyota came back to a person the officer knew who didn’t match the man’s description. Officers checked the area and later, one of them found the vehicle on I-393. The driver, Bombaci, matched the description of the man in the store. “He appeared to be very nervous and would not make eye contact with me,” the officer alleged. The two discussed the ownership of the vehicle, which had temporary plates, and later, Bombaci allegedly admitted to being in the store and later consented to a search of the vehicle. The officer allegedly found heroin, a needle, two digital scales with white powder residue, and residue in a glove compartment. Bombaci was arrested and had a court date on April 7.
