Investigators inside the Concord Police Department are looking for the public’s assistance in identifying a female suspect who may be involved in “a multi-state crime spree” involving stolen credit cards and checkbooks, as well as a male counterpart who could be traveling with her.

According to a Concord Regional Crimeline alert, a woman informed Concord Police that on April 10, her purse, containing credit cards and a checkbook, were stolen from a locker at the Gold’s Gym in Manchester on April 9.

As a result of the theft, the woman’s account "was emptied," according to police, with one of the stolen checks made out to a woman using a stolen South Carolina driver’s license.

One of the places that the stolen credit card was used was at the Walmart on Loudon Road in Concord, around 4:30 p.m. on the day in question, according to police. A woman used the credit card to buy calling cards, gift cards, and pre-paid phone cards, according to the alert.

Police also learned that there have been “similar types of crimes in other states,” according to Lt. Timothy O’Malley, the commander of the criminal investigations unit for the Concord Police Department.

O’Malley noted that the thieves were reportedly in a stolen car from Georgia when they hit another car in the parking lot of a Gold’s Gym in Aiken, SC, on April 6. The couple allegedly stole the car, a purse inside the car, and then left the scene, leaving the stolen car from Georgia behind.

“It was this same stolen ID that was used in the Concord case,” O’Malley said.

The stolen ID and credit cards from South Carolina have been used in several states across the east coast. The stolen South Carolina vehicle was found in Virginia.

“(We) believe that the female suspected of these crimes uses a fraudulent Gold’s Gym card to gain access to these facilities,” O’Malley stated.
