Concord Police Make Arrest in Penacook Robberies

Benjamin W. Hugron was picked up on Aug. 19, and charged. O'Malley: Tip to Crimeline made the difference.

The Concord Police Department has made an arrest in connection with two recent robberies in Penacook where the alleged robber flashed a gun and stole money.

Benjamin W. Hugron, 32, of Concord, was arrested at 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 19, and charged with two felony counts of armed robbery.

Police allege that Hugron robbed the Asian Taste Restaurant in Penacook on Aug. 8, and Sam’s Food Stores location on Village Street, on Aug. 15.

“The caller identified Hugron as a possible suspect in the robberies,” said Lt. Timothy O’Malley, the commander of the criminal investigations unit for the department. “Concord Detectives discovered that Hugron had an active warrant for his arrest, issued by the U.S. Department of Probation and Parole.”

The warrant was issued two days before the first robbery, according to O’Malley.

O’Malley said that U.S. Department of Probation and Pre-Trial Services notified the U.S. Marshals Service about Hugron and dispatched Deputy Marshals to Concord. Working with detectives and officers from Concord, Hugron was apprehended near Pavillion Drive in Penacook.

Police executed a search warrant for Hugron’s home and recovered “several items of evidence” and “established probable cause to arrest Hugron for both robberies,” according to O'Malley.

Hugron is being held at the Merrimack County House of Corrections. He will be arraigned on Aug. 20.

If you have any information about this case, the investigation is ongoing, according to O’Malley. Contact the Concord Regional Crimeline at 603-226-3100.
