Concord Man Arrested for DWI, Felony Habitual Offender

Police allege that Christopher Becker used a friend's Jeep without permission.

A local man was arrested recently on a slew of charges after allegedly taking off with a friend’s vehicle and driving drunk.

Christopher Mark Becker, 26, of Concord, was arrested at 4:19 a.m. on March 21, and charged with being a felony habitual offender, driving while intoxicated (second offense), unauthorized use of a propelled vehicle, and a bench warrant.

According to an arrest record and court affidavit, an officer was sent to an apartment building on Fisherville Road for a report of a stolen Jeep Grand Cherokee. Dispatch informed the officer that the victim had a potential suspect, Becker, who was also wanted on an electronic bench warrant out of Concord District Court, issued on Nov. 4, 2013, for driving after revocation of suspension.

The victim told the officer that Becker had been staying with her and when she went to bed around 11 p.m., he was there and her car keys were hanging on the wall next to the door. The victim then woke up around 3 a.m. and found out that Becker was not in her apartment. She later realized her keys were gone and so was her vehicle.

“(The victim) told me she was the owner of the vehicle and that she did not give permission for Becker to drive her vehicle,” the officer reported.

While taking the statement, Becker allegedly pulled into the driveway in the Jeep.

The officer spoke to Becker and asked if he had permission to use the vehicle and he allegedly stated he did not.

“While speaking with Becker I observed he had bloodshot glassy eyes and a distinct odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from him as he spoke,” the officer wrote.

When asked if he had anything to drink, Becker allegedly stated, a “couple.” He refused to take a field sobriety test and was arrested.

Becker refused bail and was arraigned a few hours later.

According to the report, Becker was deemed a habitual offender by the NH DMV on March 13, 2013. He was convicted of DWI on Nov. 7, 2007.
