Bullets Found at Concord High School

Concord Police also investigating threats made against staffers last week; don't know if incidents are connected.

Investigators within the Concord Police Department are looking into a report of four bullets found in the boy’s bathroom of Concord High School on Feb. 5.

According to an alert from principal Gene Connolly, sometime after noon, a student found the bullets in the boy’s bathroom on the third floor of the east building. The student took a picture of the bullets and then reported the issue. Despite the quick response to the finding, when administrators reached the bathroom, the bullets were no longer there.

“We assume that they were flushed down the toilet,” Connolly reported.

Lt. Timothy O’Malley, the commander of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the department, said at this time, police don’t know specifically what kinds of bullets were at the school. He commended the student for quickly reporting it to school officials.

Connolly said administrators didn’t know why the bullets were in the bathroom noting that they could have been in someone’s pocket from previous “legal activity.”

“Of course, we cannot assume anything at this time,” Connolly noted.

The information was shared with CHS students and parents later.

Connolly said police were currently investigating the matter as well as another threat incident at the school “that caused concern.” He requested that parents talk with their children about the incident and to have any information forwarded to police.

Additional police presence will be at the school on Feb. 6, Connolly noted.

O’Malley said the threat was made last week, anonymously written in a bathroom stall, alleging an incident against staffers that would take place on Wednesday, Feb. 6.

“Finding the rounds in the bathroom today … we don’t know if they are connected, it could be a coincidence,” O’Malley said. “This is, obviously, being taken very seriously. There are parents who are worried … the school is worried … we’re going to have extra officers at the school.”

O’Malley asked anyone who might know more about the threat on the bathroom wall or the bullets to come forward and contact the Concord Regional Crimeline with information that can be left anonymously.

“If it is a joke, it’s something that’s not funny,” he said. “If anyone out there knows anything, they need to call us.”
