Antrim Man Arrested on Multiple Sexual Assault Charges

Police allege that sex offender Max Wilson molested a juvenile male in Concord, Hopkinton earlier this year.

A registered sex offender has been arrested after a multi-agency investigation into allegations that the elderly man had sexually assaulted a boy.

Max E. Wilson, 69, of Antrim, was arrested on March 6, and charged with six counts of sexual assault and two counts of prohibit persons from childcare service.

According to a press statement from Lt. Timothy O’Malley, the commander of the criminal investigations division for the department, Wilson was reportedly living with a family in Antrim and allegedly assaulted a juvenile male at the time who was a friend of the family. Police allege that there were three separate assaults during a three to four day period in January.

O’Malley said Concord, Hopkinton, and Antrim investigators began looking into the incidents and learned that “Wilson allegedly assaulted the same male juvenile in both Hopkinton and Concord as well,” according to the press statement.

“The investigation revealed that Wilson had agreed to act as a mentor and tutor for the male juvenile and never disclosed that he was a sex offender to the victim juvenile’s family,” O’Malley stated. “The family eventually became concerned about Wilson’s behavior and researched his name on the Internet. Through these efforts they discovered that he was in fact a registered sex offender. The family then consulted with their church who in turn notified Hopkinton PD.”

The juvenile was allegedly assaulted in Concord at various locations including restaurants and retail establishments during the first two weeks of the month.

Previously, Wilson was found guilty of sexual abuse second sexual contact with a person less than 14 in February 2005, according to HomeFacts.com.

Wilson was arrested by Antrim Police on Jan. 30, according to an article in the Monadnock Ledger-Transcript, on three counts of forcible fondling sexual assault against a victim between the ages of 13 and 16. He was held on cash bail at the Hillsborough County House of Corrections (Valley Street Jail) in Manchester.

Wilson will be arraigned later today. He faces charges in both Concord and Hopkinton.

O’Malley said investigators believe this is an isolated incident but are asking the public if they know of any other incidents involving Wilson to contact the Concord Regional Crimeline at 603-226-3100.
