Ultimate Answer to Concord's Homeless Problem

Has Concord run out of white paint? Why haven't the downtown CROSSWALKS been repainted long before now? Many parking spots in same area have new white paint. Why would they take priority over the crosswalks? Maybe it's the CCC's ultimate answer to the homeless problem; let them get hit on faded & phantom crosswalks. Hey, why not? Attrition worked for Grant in the Civil War.

Exactly, Timothy. But have you noticed the parking lines that have been repainted? Seems Concord city maintenance has a weird sense of priorities.

Assuming the maintenance dept is just following orders, I won't blame them. As for the parking lines being repainted, I think you just validated our mutual concern here. You gotta have nice white painted lines to make it easier for the paying customers. Both at the downtown stores AND the parking meter fees. Screw the pedestrians, right? I think the mentality is that the city brass thinks the pedestrians are local, low income types who have little or no money to spend downtown, so why spend resources on them. Now, they might think a little differently about pedestrians within a 5 block or so radius of city hall, the statehouse, and other governement bldgs. These are the state and city politicians and staff that support them. So they have to watch out for their own first. On a related note, the crosswalks at my daughter's bus stop are pretty much non-existent. And yes, it's in a residential, lower income area with little or no businesses around the immediate area. So, to the city brass, there's no important people there to invest in, right?

Parking Enforcement has some nice new vehicles as well. It seems to me that the priorites are messed up. Why would they need NEW vehicles to drive around downtown anyway?? I thought the "meter Maids" walked their beats.

Have noticed some downtown crosswalks with new paint, mostly those located around the State House. Hey, it's a start. That'll teach 'em to mess with Concord Patch! Wait, lemme try that ending again, jpf style. That'll TEACH 'em to MESS with CONCORD PATCH !!!!!!!!!!!
